COMMUNITY

Over the last 10 years IIS has created community partnerships with leading organisations in the support of innovative programs that develop confidence, security and long term sustainability for an improved lifestyle. With SecondBite we have created networks with a company in Geelong to develop food relief for charities and people that require food security in the Geelong area. We have also set up weekly fresh food supplies for all of the charities based in Sunbury to obtain food for the local community to access. This includes the development of a new innovative project of a soup kitchen that will service food to the homeless people at night in the North Western Melbourne community. We have worked in partnership with WISE Employment across the Eastern seaboard of Australia to run programs that build leadership skills for retrenched workers and new migrants hoping to rejoin the workforce and seek long term paid employment. We have also supported an initiative to assist disability employees with access into employment.

IIS Director Kevin Hall is the founder of our latest community partnerships program “A Gesture”.

A Gesture is a holistic educational training program that offers work experience and life skills for unemployed individuals to gain proficiency in warehousing and food logistics. This innovative curriculum was founded in 2010 and aims to support 40 trainees in it’s first year. In a supportive and kinesthetic learning environment participants engage with a hands-on program that aims to create fundamental building blocks that spark personal growth to become job-ready.
