What is a traineeship?
A traineeship is a flexible employment based training arrangement. It combines work with structured training, and varies in length from 6 months to 2 years.
Who is eligible to undertake a traineeship?
Both existing and new employees may be eligible.
Existing employee: employed for more than 3 months full time or 12 months part time.
New employee: employed for less than 3 months full time or 12 months part time.
How many hours a week must a trainee be working?
15 hours per week averaged over a 4 week period.
How is training delivered?
Training takes place in the workplace for 90 minutes every two weeks. This can be done on a one-on-one basis or in small groups.
When and how do I receive my incentive payments?
The Australian Apprenticeship Centre (AAC) arranges these payments on behalf of the Government. One incentive can be claimed after 3 months, and the other can be claimed on successful completion.
What are the training outcomes?
Each trainee receives a nationally accredited training certificate upon completion. These certificates are recognized and valued within each industry.

How long does it take to complete a certificate?
We ensure training is completed within 6-9 months for Cert. 2 or 3 and 8-12 months for Cert. 4 providing trainees attend all scheduled sessions.
